- Friends, I am taking a page from my friend and colleague Gilberto Rosas (who also published a bibliography titled "Borderlands") and announcing my "History of U.S.-Mexico Borderlands" bibliography published in Oxford Bibliographies-- Latino Studies (Oxford University Press). - I find the article frustrating to read because the problems or shortcomings of "border security fencing" were articulated and identified by the residents of South Texas and the border since 2006 when the Act was signed into law. Also, what about the rest of our borders? So much attention is being placed on the U.S-Mexican border but what about our coastline? Canada? Gulf? etc. If anything, this article reinforces the notion that border issues are too politicized and destined to fail.
